This upcoming year the new officers decided to meet during lunch on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
Officers will meet during their lunches the Tuesday before the meeting to plan the agenda.
September 14th - At this meeting we covered the upcoming meeting dates, discussed old business, and went over rules and expectations for the haunted house. The next meeting for the haunted house is Sept. 28th in Mr. Pastrick's room at lunch. Make sure you have ideas and know who is in your group. You can have 5-8 people in your group, no more no less. Also Sept. 24th at 8am bring a rake or shovel to the school to help move mulch. There is also a cancer walk that would be great to participate in if possible. It is October 9th at Hidden Lake Park in Merrillville. For more information contact Mr. Pastrick or Heaven Donovan.
October 12th - Discussed old businees: Breast cancer cupcake sale raised $200. Helped at Arts and Crafts fair with delivering lunches and cleanup afterwards (received a $200 donation to our Angel Tree fund). Each room in the haunted house shared their most current plans with everyone. Each room must also meet with Mr. Pastrick within the next week for advice, questions, etc. Big Brother Big Sister day on November 12th from 3 to 7 P.M. Sign up with ? Journey of Hope - an across the country bike ride by one of our former students to help special needs children. We need some ideas to help him raise money for his task. Inductions are on December 10th, all are expected to attend. It begins at 7 P.M.

However, due to such a great result this year, all NJHS HH workers are invited to Angel Tree shop this year. Bg Brother Big Sister Day information was shared. See link above for more details. Induction date and details were shared, again see link above for more information. Make-A-Difference Day is Dec. 17th which is when we Angel Tree shop, wrap presents, do the scavenger hunt for The Caring Place, and have pizza and play games. Informed everyone of the upcoming events for the 2nd semester.
January 11th Started with writing our names on paper, exchanging with a neighbor, and then writing positive words for each letter of that person's name. Discussed old business such as the Make-A-Difference day and mentioned how each local paper and our town's website had articles and pictures in them, also discussed wrapping presents and our picture phone hunt. Talked about obligations to old and new members, as well as how hours for old members are due this Friday and that for all members I will be checking grades, referrals, and HAWK points next Friday. Upcoming events are the WinterFest on February 11th and Penny Wars in March. The public library has asked for volunteer workers as well as students to join a new club that will meet monthly to promote student learning, reading, and activities. T-shirts and sweatshirts have been passed out to all members that ordered them (sorry it took so long to get them in).

At this event, we helped coordinate the activites such as the bouncy house, reading room, dancing, coloring, snow angels and sledding contests. The recent outbreak of tornadoes in Southern Indiana caused great sentiment in our area and many people helped with gathering supplies as well as money to deliver to them. A brief discussion about demerits was held to make sure students are aware again that their grades and HAWK points greatly influence their standing in NJHS. Pictures were then shown from Winterfest and the trip to Southern Indiana. T-shirt forms are available for anyone that missed the order the first time.
