Upcoming Events
Dates, times, and more details will be available soon after school begins, but this list will GROW.
October (various nights) - Haunted House. We held 2 Dairy Queen nights and asked for sponsors this year. Together these two ideas helped make this the most safe and successful haunted house yet. Over the course of 3 nights (first ever), we raised $5900 and had more than 1200 participants (a little more than 250 during the kid time - a new record).
November 12th - Big Brother Big Sister. Definitely one of our best turnouts as we had just over 100 kids participate from grades K - 5. We did the normal activities such as tag games, played outside due to nice weather, scavenger hunts, and watched "Zootopia" and "Angry Birds".
December 10th - Angel Tree Shopped from 9 A.M. to around 1:30 P.M.; Wrapped at the school from 1:30 - 4 P.M.; decorated the Elementary from 3:30 - 6 P.M.; had a Pizza party & games from 6 to 8ish P.M. Very successful day and very tiring.
January 13h, 2nd Grade Science Night. Had 80 2nd graders attend our annual Science Night. With the help of more than 30 middle school students, we took the elementary kids through 4 rooms: the Crazy Lab, the Food Science room, and 2 new rooms this year...the Animal room (awesome) and the Space room (also awesome). Great event!
February 24th, NJHS Induction. Inducted 16 new members into our chapter. Officers prepared their own speeches this year and made them much more personal. Good change. Claire prepared cupcakes (equally awesome).
March 6th, Penny Wars kickoff in the gym. Different containers to allow better visibility. Money will benefit Meals on Wheels and also for Call-A-Ride.
March 11th, Big Brother Big Sister. LOTS of kids this time, definitely the most we've ever had...just over 120 kids total. Movies were Moana and Trolls, which were both big hits. Scavenger hunt, dodgeball, tag games, egg drop and a whole lot more.
